Curriculum
Overview
A school curriculum embraces all arrangements the school makes for students’ learning and development.
The curriculum offered by Knox Gardens is based on Department of Education and Training guidelines with an overall objective of providing all children with an education that will enable them to participate fully in a multicultural society.
The Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) provides the basis for curriculum planning and reporting on student achievement in Victorian schools.
The extensive curriculum provided is based on key learning areas:

¶ Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE)

¶ Indonesian as a Language Other Than English (LOTE)
Curriculum programs are delivered Years Prep - Six through a mix of classroom and specialist / resource teaching. The nature of activities and classroom programs is varied according to children’s level of development and interest and is intended to extend individual knowledge and understanding. The key learning areas are overlapping bodies of knowledge that extend human interest, ideas and thoughts. Key objectives are to encourage students to:
* enjoy their own learning.
* make and act on responsible decisions about their own learning.
* develop interests and activities which can be carried on beyond school.
* gain satisfaction and confidence from their developing abilities.
Specialist teachers provide programs in Physical Education, Sport, Performing Arts and Visual Art.
Close co-operation with neighbouring Secondary Colleges and Pre-Schools facilitate effective transition arrangements for our students. Additional programs are provided:
