The Prep Year at Knox Garden

Prep is a most important year.  The Prep year is a time for fun, friendship, and a building of relationships between your child and others.  And shouldn't we be proud to see how our children are starting to grow up and develop some of the skills that are going to be essential for them to do well later in life?  Although it isn't always easy to 'let go', we must encourage and praise their developing independance, social awareness and increasing communication skills.

Children should be given the opportunity at home to carry out simple instructions and tasks.  This encourages the development of independence, initiative, self-confidence, positive self-esteem and problem solving skills.  These are key elements in thwe overall development of the child and so important in living and learning.  All children will show development in many areas, whether it be social, physical, emotional and ultimately academic.  Patience, encouragement and priase for success, are the keys for positive motivation for every child, so that they will have continued interest in their own learning.
